Warehouse arrival next week!
about 3 years ago – Sat, Jan 16, 2021 at 07:31:25 PM

Happy New Year! A very short update - while we weren't able to get tracking info for the ship bearing The Pit, our fulfillment partner has let us know that the shipping company has let them know that the pallets are expected to be delivered to their warehouse in a week. This could vary - trucks break down, etc. - but probably won't. Then it's a matter of them processing the pallets in, and final arrangements to start sending the game out to everyone! This does mean we don't have an exact date people should watch for their copies yet, but it was important to let everyone know where things were at on this side of the holidays.

Expect the next update when we get word the games have arrived to the warehouse!

The Last (ish) Update of 2020
over 3 years ago – Fri, Dec 18, 2020 at 02:41:50 AM

Hello Everyone,

It's been a few weeks since our last update - the process of getting the game on a boat has changed a bit since last year when Planetary Control shipped, which meant it took longer than we were counting on. What was largely handled by our fulfillment company last time required a lot more paperwork and shipping expertise this time, presumably part of the ongoing shifting landscape of trade relations. Or we may have enjoyed lucky timing on Planetary Control and mistook it as normal. Probably a bit of both.

So, in short, while we were working towards getting the game in hands within 2020, ultimately our pallets are on a boat and won't reach our fulfillment company until early to mid-January. Currently, our shipment should arrive in Florida on January 10th (key word, should, so let's consider it as a target date for now). We don't know yet how long it will take to clear port (for all the paperwork we did, quickly we hope), transport to our fulfillment company (who are nearby, also in Florida), or when fulfillment will start sending games out, but when we know, we will update everybody.

With the game at loose ends for a little while longer, we wanted to thank everyone for their support and patience. And to show appreciation we have decided that the separate, add-on characters pack -  which includes the alien Ranger, Warrior, and Mercenary, plus a SolFore Brawler Armor figure - will be included with all copies of the game. After all this support, we want everybody to have some extra fun to your dives into The Pit!

We did title this as the last-ish update for 2020, which is to say we hope everybody has a relaxing holiday break, as best as we all can, and we will definitely talk in January as The Pit draws nearer, literally. But if we get more info about shipping (some people have asked after boat tracking info, which is something we've seen other projects do. We have inquired about it, but the boat could arrive before we even know more, thanks to the holiday break.) we'll jump back in between Xmas weekend and New Years Eve weekend with an update.

Again, we have been so encouraged by everybody's patience and support - we bit off a lot for a first project, but thanks to you all, we are chewing it. That's a terrible visual. What we mean to say is, we know this took way longer than we ever imagined, we are so appreciative of all your support, and thank you for letting us climb the learning curve and bring this game to life!

All our best,

The Kerberos Team

Sample approved!
over 3 years ago – Tue, Nov 03, 2020 at 01:50:39 PM

So, we got our second sample of the game, we went through it to confirm the changes we asked for were made, everything was great, so they are finishing assembly now (we suspect they started assembling boxes in anticipation of us giving the go ahead). Next steps are; onto palettes, onto a boat, and off to our fulfillment partner. We are trying to find more info, but boats and mail are two things subject to forces well beyond our control, and ones that we don't have an email we can send stern messages to, so we'll do our best to keep you updated. Once the game is in the hands of our fulfillment partner, things will be clearer, so for now, we'll just focus on the boat trip.

Thanks everybody!

Look! The final figures in their proper player colours!

Where's the Factory Test Copy!?
over 3 years ago – Fri, Oct 30, 2020 at 09:06:53 AM

That's what our producer has been yelling at his screen for the past week. It was going to be last week, then it was moved to tomorrow, then they stopped saying tomorrow, but didn't have a replacement date, and then, out of the blue, just now;

So, it should be here today, we'll review it asap, and the next thing you hear from us is that the factory is assembling the boxes into boxes onto palettes and then we enter the exciting world of giant boats, seasonal storms, the Panama Canal, and freight paperwork!

Have a Happy Halloween everybody!

Chatting with the factory today...

Hi All!

Quick update. Having now spoken to our manufacturing partners in China (their holidays are over, our turkey weekend is over), they caught us up on where things are at (and we learned a little bit more about how things are done). As of right now, all components for the game have finished being produced; boxes made, figures molded, dice carved, a flurry of cards printed, all of that is done. Everything just needs to be packaged together. This is where some back and forth was required to understand what was what, as they sent a picture of the two things we requested be addressed, and said they've send us another copy for review. We had a heart attack worrying, as when they sent the picture, we didn't understand the state of the run. For one sleepless night, our producer wondered if they'd fixed the changes and were sending the review box, but NOTHING else had begun. This wasn't the case though (whew).

What is done is for something this complex, they rely on the customer to review and sign off everything, explicitly, no yeah go-aheads via email and then have an angry customer complaining when the palettes arrive at their end. But by printing everything as if it's a final run, but keeping it loose until they get a thumbs up, they save time. If we were to find something wrong (can't imagine what, at this point), then all they do is scrap that one component.

Long story short, the production run is done, we are confident it's all great, and they're going to assemble the boxes next week. Then it's just a question of overseas shipping and fulfillment!

Not the area under the figures, we had them add the finger notch on the right. The area above the figures, top left, they had a shape in the corner that appoximated the extra space not filled by cards. It made it very organized when you opened the box for the first time, but just got in the way when storing all the decks after playing, so we asked them to remove it.

This is the photo they sent - we wanted confirmation that the final figure colours looked right (the orange and red were too close, so we got a brighter orange) and were on the right figure (they used random colours when test molding the last figures they sent us). Also, we wanted a couple of changed to the insert tray, basically a couple of small changes that would make them easier to use (the room cards didn't have a finger notch to get them out of their spot) and more useful for players who keep them for storage after opening.

Honestly, so long as they didn't somehow change cards or anything, and these changes look great, then we'd let them start boxing now, but to ensure no cock-ups and everybody agrees on the product, we'll wait for our FedEx'd review copy. That will be the next update from us, that it's arrived, we like it, no mistakes, and they are assembling everything and putting it on palettes.
